It received entries from 62,000 entrepreneurs from across the country, out of which 198 businesses were selected to pitch their ideas to the sharks \u2013 investors ready to chip in seed funding. I have even managed tie ups with one of the largest NGO of India \u2013 Bhumi, as well as a Nigerian NGO to eradicate bullying from children\u2019s lives,\u201d says Anoushka in a conversation with\u00a0<i><\/i><\/span><i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalindian.com\/youth\/\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Global Indian<\/a>.<\/i><span class=\"x_eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"x_paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"x_eop\"><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif;\">How a victim of bullying turned into a changemaker<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\">\u00a0\u201cI was bullied for a year when I was in grade three,\u201d says Anoushka elaborating on what led her to work on the cause of anti-bullying. \u201cTwo classmates were emotionally blackmailing me and making me feel that I wasn\u2019t capable enough. It affected my self-esteem. I found myself doing things like apologising when it was not required. I used to be upset all the time and formed a habit of looking down upon myself until I gathered courage to talk about it,\u201d she recalls. However, what she describes as the lowest phase in her life, was also \u201cturning point,\u201d one that helped her \u201cidentify the purpose of life \u2013 to stop bullying and help kids be happier.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Anti-Bullying Squad\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3ypxq2C4JuY?start=4&#038;feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-load-mode=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\">By the time Anoushka reached class six in 2018, she launched her startup, Anti Bullying Squad (ABS), and started conducting seminars and online sessions across the country to make people realise how severe the impact of bullying can get, starting from her own school. Educational institutions, social organisations and experts have all been with her in her endeavour realising t<\/span>here was huge gap in knowledge on this aspect. Her mental health <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalindian.com\/youth\/\/story\/indian-startups\/\">startup<\/a> has so far been able to reach several thousand students, parents and teachers from 50+ schools.<span class=\"x_eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\"><b>Kavach\u00a0\u2013 the shield against bullying<\/b><\/span><span class=\"x_eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\">The teen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalindian.com\/youth\/\/story\/social-entrepreneur\/\">social entrepreneur<\/a>\u00a0<b><\/b><\/span><b><\/b>soon realised that seminars and sessions would solve one aspect of the problem but wouldn\u2019t tackle it in its entirety. A real impact, she found, could only be made when incidents are reported. \u201cBullying continues unabated because there is hardly any intervention in schools. Authorities tend to be largely unaware of the extent of the problem. Students don\u2019t want to report because they don\u2019t want to be known,\u201d remarks Anoushka. <span class=\"x_eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20127\" style=\"width: 701px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20127\" class=\"wp-image-20127 size-full lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.globalindian.com\/youth\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Abhijita_Amrita_Youth7.jpg\" alt=\"Social Entrepreneur | Anoushka Jolly | Global Indian\" width=\"691\" height=\"587\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 691px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 691\/587;\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20127\" class=\"wp-image-20127 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.globalindian.com\/youth\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Abhijita_Amrita_Youth7.jpg\" alt=\"Social Entrepreneur | Anoushka Jolly | Global Indian\" width=\"691\" height=\"587\" \/><\/noscript><p id=\"caption-attachment-20127\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Putting on a smile and not disclosing bullying will not help<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\"><i>Kavach, <\/i><\/span><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\">therefore, is the answer to her\u00a0idea of a mechanism\u00a0which enables students and their parents to report\u00a0bullying\u00a0incidents anonymously.\u00a0\u201cSchools can now tactfully intervene and take action,\u201d she believes.<\/span><span class=\"x_eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\">She also runs a\u00a0one-hour\u00a0programme which\u00a0is\u00a0available on\u00a0ABS website and\u00a0YouTube comprising of 10 videos and MCQs to help children and their parents\u00a0get\u00a0sensitized\u00a0about the issue.<\/span><span class=\"x_eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\"><b>Shark Tank India experience <\/b><\/span><span class=\"x_eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_scxw28929551\">Shark Tank\u00a0experience is not the only\u00a0winning moment that has come the youngster\u2019s way.\u00a0\u00a0When she was\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\">nine, she was part of the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA),\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\">a US franchise that teaches <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalindian.com\/youth\/\/story\/entrepreneurship\/\">entrepreneurship<\/a> skills to\u00a0under-18s.\u00a0<\/span>Anoushka had managed third place in the investor panel for pitching ABS. \u201cMost of the students were in their teens, I was only nine at that time and the youngest of all,\u201d she remarks. \u201cThe winning amount was about twenty to thirty thousand but it boosted my confidence immensely.\u201d Happy that she could raise funds on her own, without even having to ask her parents, Anoushka had invested the amount in setting up ABS. It brought her recognition among the &#8216;Top 21 for 2021&#8217; Innovative Tech-Based Women-Led Startups by ITC &amp; Shecapital. <span class=\"x_eop\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Anoushka Jolly : Shark Tank India\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QzsGg23PLI8?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-load-mode=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\">Her\u00a0share of limelight\u00a0on television\u00a0has\u00a0not been\u00a0limited to\u00a0<i>Shark Tank<\/i>.\u00a0The social entrepreneur\u00a0was also recognised as a Network18 Young Genius\u00a0in a\u00a0reality\u00a0TV\u00a0show\u00a0organised by Network 18. She had received an invitation from the Ministry of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalindian.com\/youth\/\/story\/indian-culture\/\">Culture<\/a> on behalf of The Government of India to be a part of the song \u2018<i><\/i><\/span><i>Mauka Ha<\/i>i\u2019 amongst the 40\u00a0youth\u00a0icons like PV Sindhu,\u00a0Hima\u00a0Das and Mira Bai\u00a0Chanu\u00a0as part of Azadi ka\u00a0Amrit\u00a0Mahotsav celebrations.<span class=\"x_eop\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\"><b>Bullies are not villains\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span class=\"x_eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\">A lot of kids have reached out to her and shared their stories. \u201cThey just wanted a person to listen, and were waiting for someone to talk about it. By finding a listener, fifty percent of the problem vanishes,\u201d she tells.
